Pidgeon Medicine

topic posted Thu, March 27, 2008 - 9:38 AM by  BU*
These birds are frequent in their appearances in our urban environments thugh I am in a suburb now they still are present
They've always had a bad rap and I wanted to learn more of their medicine
So far from my observation and meditation I've gathered
they are survivors, warriors and personable
along with the ideas of their messenger capabilities
Where I habide they are sturdy, surprising clean, and live in trees
also they are the few animals one can have as a pet
well I mean I don't know if they like to be "petted"
but they can be choose to stay near if one befriends them

They are of a family of birds which include the wild Wood Pigeons, and various types of Doves.

The city Pigeons are very messy and are classed as vermin ('rats with wings' some call them). They are multi partner and the males spend most of their time trying to mate. They can be invasive and destructive in their ways.
I prefer the Wood Pigeons which are fatter and smarter in appearance, and while not solitary seem to have different habits. They are very destructive to gardens and will wipe out peoples cabbages and peas.
Of course pigeons are selected for their ability to find direction and carry messages and have been doing so for at least hundreds of years.

Then there's Doves, which are very loyal partners and make the familiar 'cooing' sound. They like seeds are not destructive to cabbages (at least not mine!). They are more timid than Pigeons and I guess are a symbol of peace partly because of their peaceful and loving nature.

What 'Pigeon medicine' can others bring?

I didn't know the pidgeon and dove association thank you:)
I mean that they are a part of a kind of family
Also white pidgeons are used in replacement for doves during ceremonies
because I hear say that doves don't return back to the tender heh heh
      yeah pidgeons can be messy
