Poultry chiefs fear bird flu cost

The poultry industry is counting the cost of Britain's first outbreak of the potentially deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu.
As the slaughter of 159,000 turkeys on the Suffolk farm infected with the highly pathogenic Asian version of the strain is completed, there are concerns the outbreak may dent sales of poultry.
But although 164 people have died from H5N1 since January 2003, mostly in Asia and the Middle East, the Health Protection Agency has reassured the public the virus is not transmitted through food.
And industry figures have urged consumers to heed advice from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, which said no infected birds have entered the food chain.
A Defra spokesman was unable to confirm reports that the Japanese agriculture ministry has temporarily suspended all imports of British poultry.
Charles Bourne, chairman of the National Farmers' Union poultry board, said: "There is the likelihood that there could be an effect on sales and that is really what is going to hit me.
"If chicken sales drop by 5%, that means we produce 16 million chickens a week in this country and some 500,000 are not wanted. That will affect the market and prices will go down. Of course we are concerned."
The investigation to track down how the disease had entered the poultry flock continued, with experts examining whether there was another origin of the avian flu in poultry, or if it came from wild birds.
Meanwhile, officials said the risk posed to humans by the highly pathogenic Asian version of avian flu found on the Bernard Matthews farm at Holton, near Halesworth, Suffolk is "negligible".
But the Government is preparing "very seriously" for the remote possibility the disease - which can be transmitted to humans - could mutate into a form which causes a flu pandemic.

Mon, February 5, 2007 - 2:37 AMAt best this is a story of pathetically bad management or cynical devious management of, but more likely is that it is another sacrifice of animals which is being orchestrated by those who have already overseen huge culls of animals in recent years. The UK adminstration has slaughtered millions of cattle for nothing more than herpes, and millions more for another disease which never occurs in organically raised cattle. They have also had other major diseases of pigs, sheep, poultry and even bees, and always because of greed, short-cuts, poor feed, use of chemicals in place of sound management and proper nutrition, etc.
Most poultry are fed treated feeds, grown with chemicals, and often laced with anti-biotics. They are mostly kept in unnatural conditions and even little cages. They are de-beaked when young and live lives of great stress.
Cattle in non-organic farming are fed chemical feedstuffs. They have organo-phosphates poured down their spines to deal with warble fly and other pests, they also get anti-biotics, and hormone implants to affect the milk production. The calves are taken after a week or less to be raised for veal and mother and child spend days calling to each other in states of extreme stress.
Sheep and Pigs have had diseases connected to chemical use and poor feed, stress etc.
Bees have suffered from diseases because of human greed, taking almost all of the honey from a hive and feeding white sugar to the bees over winter. Little wonder they became ill.
And always the response of the farmers is to increase drug use!
And the whole corrupt system is paid for by thousands of millions of tax payers money, in the form of 'subsidies'.
Badgers are blamed for cattle TB when trials have shown no connection except that badgers probably get the TB from the sick cattle. The result, a cull of badgers!
Foxes were being hunted by hounds and horseback for hundreds of years, and then after government legislation banning the use of hounds, foxes are being killed in greater numbers by men with guns and dogs, who are 'licensed' to kill.
Wild bird egg 'collecting' is still permitted, except in the cases of rare birds like eagles (most get 24 hour watches).
The animals are part of the spirit of the land. When we see genocide of animals, hunting for 'sport', the destruction of habitats etc, it is part of the Illuminati plan to drive the spirit from the land and people, to separate people from the spirit, to replace the wildness with straight lines and conformity.
Michael Tsarion suggests that it is also blood sacrifice to beings who dwell in the 4th dimension and who provide certain information linked with energy systems and control of human populations. Of course it mainly relates to human genocide, but I suspect a similar application to animals and birds, as well as to forests (rather like the Lord of the Rings).
The broad solution is for everyone to eat organic food, local food, stop eating meat and other flesh, help care-fully to replant forests and allow wild areas to establish. Permaculture can help in this process.
Each human can use their own consumption to influence what is happening agriculturally and economically. It is pure choice. This means that there is no excuse for doing anything else other than as consciously and caring for nature as possible.
It seems that human survival is completely bound up in this story, and should be one of the driving forces of everyone's consumption.
To all the winged ones, the two and four-legged animals, the insects, those that swim, the plants, the minerals, the seen and unseen forces of this greater reality, to those who have gone before and those who will come after, I dedicate myself, my mind and my body to helping humanity to wake up and remember why we are all here.
We are here to be mobile units of geometry, planetary nodes of consciousness, super computers and fields of energy wherein takes place the sacred marriage. We are here to work directly with natural forces, to awaken and maintain connections to elementals and guiding energies. We are here to nurture and protect all our relations, to work with them for the greater good, to 'make more beautiful', to leave the Earth better than we found it.
We are here to remember what it really means to be human!
